EV charging MCP server for German cities
Public charging infrastructure from the German Federal Network Agency register for 84 major cities directly in your AI assistant, through the free, key-free MCP tool by InfraNode. No API key, no installation.
What the MCP tool does
With resource='charging' the tool returns all registered charging points of a city: operator, charging power in kilowatts, charging type and location. The assistant calls it by itself as soon as you ask about charging options in a city.
Use it in Claude or ChatGPT
Connect the InfraNode MCP server to your AI client once (see
set up the MCP server). After that a natural-language
question is enough, the assistant calls the get_city_resource tool
itself:
How many fast charging points above 50 kW are there in Dortmund?
The MCP server is free, keyless and remote over Streamable HTTP at
https://mcp.infranode.dev/mcp. No API key, no install.
Prefer the REST API?
The same data is also available without an AI agent as a classic REST API, also free and keyless.
Frequently asked questions
- Can the assistant see whether a charger is free?
- Not in the register, which is the reported inventory. For Hamburg there is additionally minute-fresh occupancy via resource='charging-status'.
- Where does the data come from?
- From the charging station register of the German Federal Network Agency under CC BY 4.0. Source and retrieval time are in every response.
